Growing up in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Lou’s fondest childhood memories include his grandfather always having a guiro in hand regardless of what song was playing. Lou was in awe at how his grandpa was always able to entertain a crowd and knew he wanted to do the same some day.
Since then, music has always been a part of Lou’s life. He started pursuing it as a hobby and potential career when he picked up the clarinet for his school’s band in 6th grade. He continued to play the clarinet and bass clarinet for concert bands, marching bands and pep bands that he was fortunate to be a part of all the way through college.
After graduating, he picked up some skills on the piano and guitar and has found a home with the DJ Cuttlefish team where he DJs weddings and special events as a bilingual artist, speaking both English and Spanish.
Lou’s favorite part of DJing events is knowing that he’s contributing to someone’s special day whether it’s a wedding, birthday party, prom, or anything else in between!
He knows that preparation is the foundation for any successful event and that a well prepared event is bound to be less stressful which leaves more room for socializing and dancing.
When preparing for an event, he first ensures that he understands what is being asked of him. Whether there’s a certain playlist and schedule he needs to follow, or an outfit he needs to wear, he spends time making sure he has everything needed to succeed.
His favorite part of prepping is listening to the music he’s being asked to play prior to the event as it gives him an opportunity to know a little bit more about what type of vibe we’re aiming for. On his way to the event, you can probably spot Lou in his car singing his heart out to some of his favorite pump up jams!
Lou describes his DJ style as electric, passionate, and groovy and his personal style as relaxed, diverse, and determined.
When he’s not pumping up the jam at events, you can find Lou enjoying other arts like creative cooking or enjoying the outdoors. If he is ever looking for something fun to do, a concert is always near the top of his list. He enjoys playing basketball and lacrosse as well as being out in nature whether it’s going for a walk around the neighborhood or kayaking down the Chattahoochee River.
He is also passionate about traveling and always looking forward to the next adventure! If he won the lottery, a backpacking trip through Spain is at the top of his list.
It’s not hard for Lou to have a good time.
