Abrm has always been drawn to music. He distinctly remembers karaoke nights with his family as a child and realizing in those moments, even at that young age, that music brought them closer -so he began to use music as a way to get to know the people around him. He grew up singing in church and his high school choir. Always the one on the aux in the car and at hangouts, he believes that good music means a good time. DJing was the next natural step, turning something he loves into a way to bring people together.
Abrm has now found a home with the DJ Cuttlefish team where he DJs weddings and events in Atlanta.
He describes his DJ style as dynamic, soulful, and fun.
His favorite part of DJing is building the energy from a chill moment, where people are just hanging out and catching up, to that turning point where the room shifts, where everyone’s dancing, laughing, and fully in the moment. He knows that a successful party is one where people feel free to be themselves, when people can let loose, feel included, and forget about life’s worries for a while.
When preparing to DJ events, he likes to start by getting to know the people he’s playing for – what they care about, the vibe they’re hoping for, and what will make the event meaningful to them. Then he spends time listening to music that reminds him of them or fits the energy he wants to help create. When the day comes, he shows up ready to help them enjoy their moment and feel fully present.
Abrm’s go to dance moves are classics and you can catch him at parties enacting the entire scene from Hitch where Albert Brennaman brought out all the classics: sprinkler, running man, shopping cart, robot, etc. Abrm is always down for a classic good time.
A good time to Abrm means laughter, good music, and connecting and enjoying the moment with the people around him, and he loves being the facilitator of that for others as DJ.
In addition to DJing, Abrm loves hosting kickbacks with friends and catching live music whenever and wherever he can. In his off time, you can find him hiking, fishing, working out, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, and hanging out at live music venues. He describes his personal style as chill, professional, and intentional.
If chocolate chip cookies are your chosen event dessert, don’t be surprised if you catch Arbm pulling an Alanis Morissette: one hand holding a chocolate chip cookie and the other on the mixing decks.
If he won the lottery, he says he would hire a personal dessert chef to make chocolate chip cookies every day. He would also build an extravagant emporium for my tortoise Donnashello, buy a motorcycle with a sidecar for passengers, and rebuild his elementary school that burned down after a fire in the science lab.
Abrm exudes professionalism, kindness, knowledge, and all around greatness that you won’t be able to deny, making him a dream to work with.
Abrm’s music palette is diverse and while he loves indulging in music from all different genres, Neo-soul, hip-hop, 90s R&B, Reggaeton, and Funk hold a special spot in his personal style followed by pop and any new genre he can learn about.
